Vince Lombardi Trophy returns to New Orleans, Courtesy of FedEx

The Super Bowl Experience officially kicked off Wednesday when the famous Vince Lombardi Trophy arrived on the scene in New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX via FedEx, the Official Delivery Service of the NFL. A FedEx delivery van carried the trophy to the Super Bowl Experience Presented by Panini, returning the trophy to New Orleans for the city’s 11th Super Bowl, tying it with Miami for the most of any city. The trophy will be on display leading up to the momentous rematch between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.
“FedEx is proud to play a pivotal role in this Super Bowl Week tradition for the 25th consecutive year,” said Jenny Robertson, senior vice president, marketing and communications at FedEx. “No prize in football is more coveted than the Vince Lombardi Trophy, and FedEx is thrilled to deliver it to a city with such a rich Super Bowl history like New Orleans.”
This year’s delivery featured a duo near and dear to both FedEx and New Orleans, as 29-year FedEx veteran courier, Mike Nunes, and 2x Pro Bowler, Super Bowl Champion, and New Orleans Saints Hall of Famer, Deuce McAllister, delivered the trophy to its display case inside the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
The historic Vince Lombardi Trophy, which was handcrafted by artisans at Tiffany & Co., is made of sterling silver and depicts a regulation-size football in kicking position on a pyramid-like base that features the words ‘Vince Lombardi Trophy’ and ‘Super Bowl LIX’ along with the NFL shield.
