USPS UPDATE: CAPS MIGRATION TO Enterprise Payment System (EPS)

In April 2019, USPS announced CAPS accounts were no longer supported for permits with 100% eligible products through EPS.

The USPS is continuing the retirement of CAPS. Please be aware of key dates and closeout processes for permits linked to CAPS accounts:

April 3, 2020 – Permits linked to a CAPS account with no activity in previous 12 months

Effective April 3, 2020 permits with no activity in the previous 12 months will be canceled and the CAPS account will be closed. CAPS accounts with remaining balances should contact the CAPS Service Center at 650-377-1334 or email address ssmctas@email.usps.gov to request a refund.

May 1, 2020 – Permits linked to a CAPS Debit account

Effective May 1, 2020 CAPS Debit permits will no longer be funded as the CAPS account will be closed. This will impact ability to submit commercial mail. To avoid impact at acceptance and EPS account must be created and linked to the permit.

May 1, 2020 – Active CAPS Trust Permits

Customers have until May 1, 2020 to migrate to EPS. After May 1st the CAPS account will close and an EPS account will be created by the Postal Service. Any remaining funds and linked permits will transfer to a new EPS account.
