Mike Lathrop, Industry Leader & Educator, Dies

The industry lost one of its great ones: Mike Lathrop, CMDSM passed away June 18.

The longtime Mail Services Manager at Moody Bible Institute, he was an active educator dedicated to professionalism and knowledge as well as active in the Mail Systems Management Association, MAILCOM and Postal Customer Council.

His career began in 1975 and over the years he amassed numerous awards and recognitions. In 2004 he was named Manager of the Year by the MSMA and in 2015 earned the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Chicago Chapter.

He served various stints on the chapter and national level of the MSMA, and was active in the Chicago PCC, which recognized his contributions.

Mike will be most remembered for being kind and friendly. He always had an eye out for the newcomer in the industry. And his sessions at MAILCOM, which focused on professional development and leading teams, were often rated the best.
