Managers Earn Certification

The leading mail systems and distribution executives and managers received their professional credentials at the recently concluded MAILCOM Las Vegas. MCOM and CMDSM certifications were presented to seven professionals during the leadership luncheon.

The next opportunity for certification is MAILCOM ’17 in Philadelphia (click for info).

MCOM Master Certification

MCOM is the Master Certification in Mail Communications. It is achieved by executives and managers who have earned MAILCOM certificates, CMDSM, CMDSS, CMM, EMCM and other professional programs.

MCOM Master Certification is issued upon the completion of the entire certificate program which includes courses in leadership and staff development, mail systems management, distribution and delivery, mail printing and processing, address and data management, support services, outsourcing and other subject areas.

Attaining the MCOM credentials can be accomplished in as little as three years but usually takes longer, as MAILCOM certificate programs are only offered twice a year.

Receiving their MCOM professional credentials include:

— Frederick Elsner, Administrative Services Manager, Health Plan of San Mateo
Fred earned his first MAILCOM certificate at the Las Vegas 2006 Conference at the Riviera and completed his MCOM requirements in 2015.

— Melissa Wiesike, Data Services Department Manager, Encompass Elements, Inc.
Missy earned her first MAILCOM Certificate at Atlantic City in 2005 and fulfilled her MCOM Requirements in Philadelphia this past April.

— Gilbert Tucker, ICE Mail Manager, Department of Homeland Security/ICE
Gil earned his first MAILCOM Certificate at Atlantic City in 2007 and completed the necessary requirements for MCOM Certification in Las Vegas in 2015.

— Serita Sherrer, Mail Center and Facilities Manager, Visit Orlando
Serita earned her first MAILCOM Certificate at the Las Vegas Conference in 2011 and completed the necessary requirements for MCOM Certification in 2015.

CMDSM Certified Mail & Distribution Systems Manager

The Certified Mail and Distribution Systems Manager (CMDSM) program is the oldest and most respected mail industry certification program. It began in 1989 and has seen hundreds of the industry’s top managers earn the designation CMDSM.

Administered by the Mail Systems Management Association, the CMDSM program encompasses professional achievement, education, and knowledge. In order to earn the certification, applicants must meet professional criteria and successfully pass an extensive, written examination.

Achieving their CMDSM credentials were:

— James “Jim” Hernandez, CMDSM, Manager, Distribution, University of California, Santa Barbara.

— Albert “Doug” Rogers, CMDSM, Corporate Vice President, New York Life

— Derek Webster, CMDSM, Account Manager, Williams Lea

Cliff Bennett Award Winner

This award is given every year in memory of the great Cliff Bennett, a longtime MAILCOM presenter and top postal educator for Pitney Bowes. Cliff educated over 10,000 professionals during his career. This year’s recipient is Debra “Deb” Visco, CMDSM, CMDSS, Manager, Distribution Operations, New England Journal of Medicine.
