Funded by the United States Postal Service and conducted since 1987, this multi-year research study captures a comprehensive, real-world view of mail behavior across the nation. Each year, approximately 5,200 households participate – providing unmatched insight into how mail is sent, received and valued.

Participants confidentially track their mail activity over a one-week period, offering a detailed snapshot of real-life mail flow.

The Household Mail Study goes beyond the basics of delivering data that helps you:

Data collection for the 2026 study is currently underway, with the next report scheduled for release in March 2027.
