USPS Activates New S&DCs In WI, NC and CA

The Postal Service launched three new Sorting and Delivery Centers (S&DCs) serving the nation on January 24 and will expand another S&DC on February 7.

The three new S&DCs opened on January 24 without any additional 5-Digit ZIP Codes being moved into them at launch, while one existing S&DC site is adding additional 5-Digit ZIP Codes on February 7.

These S&DCs are an integral part of the Postal Service’s Delivering for America plan to create a best-in-class processing and delivery network.

The S&DCs are revitalizing our network of nearly 19,000 delivery units —the last stop for mail and packages before they are delivered by our carriers.

The Postal Service has targeted key markets where it is beneficial to aggregate delivery units into fewer, larger, centrally located S&DCs —leveraging both repurposed and new facilities —to simplify the entire network and create a more reliable and efficient Postal Service.

The schedules for the recent S&DC launches and the upcoming S&DC expansion are listed below, along with the ZIP Codes they serve:

Document outlining new site locations effective January 24, 2026, detailing ZIP codes served by Appleton WI SDC and Cary NC SDC.
Document detailing addresses and ZIP codes for San Ramon, CA and Pompano Beach, FL, including a note about the addition of a 5-digit ZIP code move effective February 7, 2026.

Commercial customers should drop their flat bundles or packages for drop shipment at the S&DC serving the respective destinating ZIP Codes. The opening of the new S&DCs will not impose Post Office closures or cause customers to experience changes to the local Post Office retail and PO Box delivery services.
