The Implementation Guide to Intelligent Mail Package Barcode (IMpb) for Confirmation Services and Electronic Payment Systems Mailers provides technical guidance for the implementation of the Intelligent Mail package barcode (IMpb) and file formats. These rules enable customers to meet IMpb requirements for packages and shipments with Extra Services.

This guide provides additional information that will be helpful to mailers as a supplement to Publication 205, Electronic Verification System (eVS) Business and Technical Guide. It provides information on the Shipping Services File formats used by commercial and online package or Extra Services customers who communicate electronically with USPS in order to meet IMpb requirements and receive electronic pricing or to participate in such programs as eVS or Package Platform (PPC).
