Industry Leader Derrick Milner Dies

Derrick Milner, a devoted mail industry leader, pastor, and author, died in August. He was 61.

Derrick managed the Government Service Administration’s Mail Management Policy, and helped organize government mailers in their relations with each other and the USPS.

WASHINGTON, DC — Derrick Milner, a devoted mail industry leader, pastor, and author, died in August. He was 61.

Derrick managed the Government Service Administration’s Mail Management Policy, and helped organize government mailers in their relations with each other and the USPS.

Derrick was a popular speaker at MAILCOM, MSMA, NPF, and other educational events. For his work at GSA, Derrick was awarded the USPS Special Achievement Award.

It was during his work in the mail industry that he decided to enter the ministry. He completed Pastoral Certification at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, MO in 2019. He was a member of and Pastor Emeritus (2019)at Our Savior Luther Church, Laurel, MD.

Known for his outgoing positive energy, he looked to help others get ahead. He authored “From the Projects to the Pulpit,” and “Brother You Can Do It.” He was also President of the “Helping Youth Grow”nonprofit organization.
