USPS Ends Sealing Postal Trailers at Seamless DMUs
Posted on March 28, 2018 by mailomg in Memo 227, Uncategorized // 0 Comments
Effective April 1, 2018 the process of observing the loading and sealing of USPS transportation will be removed at Seamless Detached Mail Units. This requirement to observe loading and sealing of USPS transportation will be removed under the following condition: Mailer must be activated for Seamless Acceptance and identifying eligible containers as eInduction.
Currently, acceptance employees are required to staff a mailer’s DMU and be available at the times that USPS transportation is being loaded with mail that has been cleared for acceptance.
Seamless Acceptance allows the USPS to validate postage payment at the piece level and eInduction allows the USPS to validate correct entry point discounts are claimed.
This change in procedures is currently being communicated to impacted Seamless Acceptance sites and USPS Operations/Transportation employees.
