USPS RATE OUTLOOK SEES 5.3% INCREASE JULY 2026

WASHINGTON, DC — Sharon Owens, the USPS Vice President of Costing & Pricing, told MTAC members that the USPS is forecasting a price hike of 5.3% in July 2026, though that figure could rise depending on CPI rates and additional rate authorities not yet known.

Based on current regulations, the USPS sees a 5.3% increase in July 2026, a 1.3% increase in January 2027, and a 4.2% increase in July 2027.

These are forecasts only and the Post has not filed for any rate increases.

A recommendation by U.S. Postmaster General David Steiner not to raise prices in January 2026 for Market Dominant products, which includes First-Class Mail, was accepted by the governors of the United States Postal Service.
