The Director of Operations is responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, meeting contractual mail obligations, and continuously improving the people, processes, and technology within the Operations department. The Director’s goal is to increase profitability while maintaining operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
Recommend large-scale strategies for improving efficiency and addressing production issues; Analyze, develop, and implement strategic operations projects, including new equipment, software, technology, processes, or staffing; Maintain and oversee Operations procedures, ensuring they are used effectively for training, inspections, and continuous improvement; Understand and manage the operational mail workflow and automation rules; Conduct annual meetings with facility management for support, training, and other needs; Train managers in budget preparation, P&L responsibility, new equipment implementation, and process improvement, ensuring adherence to processes; Support the daily operations and growth of the Marketing Services Department.
Additionally:
— Attend relevant seminars, conferences, and educational classes to stay updated on emerging technologies, recommending best practices to enhance PrintMail’s competitiveness and efficiency.
— Ensure adherence to USPS policies and manage the implementation of changes in the operations workflow.
— Share operational information with sales teams and provide support for Sales RFPs as needed.
— Maintain a roadmap and end-of-life schedule for equipment needs, regularly reporting these needs to management for budgeting.
— Manage strategic relationships, vendor performance, supply chain, equipment servicing contracts, and negotiate with vendors for pricing and other terms.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university
Certifications or demonstrable understanding of methods and frameworks used in Lean continuous improvement
Strong understanding of USPS processes and mail requirements
Minimum of 5 years prior job-related experience, or equivalent combination
Broad understanding of all aspects of Operations
Must be familiar with Printing, Quality Control, Inserting, Manual Mail Operations and the United States Postal Service
Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
Experience with vendor and project management, and financial operations
Demonstrated excellence in executing on projects and initiatives
