Bill McQuade, Industry Veteran & MAILCOM Registration Director, Dies; “We’re Heartbroken”
BRIGANTINE, NJ — William “Bill” McQuade, the industry veteran who managed mail services in the banking industry and served as MAILCOM’s Registration Director, has died.
He was 64 years old.
Bill began his mail management career at Philadelphia National Bank in the 1980’s, which later became CoreStates Financial Corp. He helped transition mail services when CoreStates was purchased by First Union and then later when First Union bought Wachovia.
He retired from Wachovia shortly before it was taken over by Wells Fargo in 2008.
Bill served as President of the Delaware Valley Chapter of the Mail Systems Management Association and later as National Director of the MSMA in the early 1990’s.
His work as MAILCOM Registration Director put him front and center with tens of thousands of mail industry professionals during the 30+ years he served in the position. He missed only one MAILCOM in that time — the recently concluded MAILCOM ’23 due to health concerns.
At MAILCOM, Bill helped developed the MCOM Certification program and guided certification candidates toward accreditation.
“The industry mourns a long-time friend and associate,” said Lance Humphries, CMDSM, MCOM, MAILCOM Managing Director. “We are heartbroken.”
“Bill was instrumental in helping educate industry professionals and went the extra mile to help,” Humphries said.
Bill was active in his church, serving as finance director, and also operated a successful accounting practice.
